I am a licensed master social worker who has been practicing counseling and psychotherapy for over thirty years in Birmingham, Michigan. I treat children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I received my B.S. and M.S.W. from Wayne State University and post-graduate training principally at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute.
In addition to practicing in a clinic and privately, I have provided clinical supervision, training, and consultation to clinical social workers, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists, as well as having formed and directed two outpatient psychotherapy clinics. Additionally, I have worked in public school systems, a summer camp for deprived children and their families, juvenile detention facilities, spent a summer working with a street gang, and have been adjunct faculty at three Michigan universities.
I have written book reviews for the Michigan Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology Newsletter and have been a presenter at an American Psychoanalytic Association discussion group. I actively participate in on-going education, seminars, supervision, consultation, and study groups. I am a member of the American Psychoanalytic Association, Psychotherapists Associates, the Association for Psychoanalytic Thought, the Clinical Social Work Association, and the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Work. I served a four year term on the Michigan Board of Social Work, one year as Vice-Chairperson and two years as Chairperson.
